Tampa Bay Buccs and Carolina Panthers clash tonight! Buccs are still trying to pull out they’re first win over the Panthers. Doug Martian got hurt last week with a shoulder injury, he is out this week. Backup running back Mike James will get the start tonight. Mike James only has 3 touches in the first 5 games for 12 yards. Last week he touched the ball 14 times for 45 yards. But that wasn’t against the 4th ranked rushing defense. Yes Panthers are ranked 4th in rushing defense. It’s going to be a tough start for James tonight. Panthers defense only allowed 2 touchdowns this season.
Since Freeman is out Mike Glennon has been productive, throwing 5 touchdowns. Four of those touchdowns were to Vincent Jackson. Jackson has only 4 touchdowns, all thrown from Glennon. There is some type of connection between these two. Jackson had two touchdowns each against Eagles and Atlanta. Two bad passing defenses, now Jackson has a good pass defense to go up against. Jackson might have another 2 touchdown game, even though he is going against 5th rank passing defense of the Panthers. Captain Munnerlyn will have at least one interception.
Panthers aren’t the only team in this game that has a good rushing defense. Buccs have only allowed 1 touchdown this season. Cam Newton has to set up the play action and go deep to Steve Smith or Brandon Lafell. If Smith could beat Revis in a couple of routes Panthers will be in good shape. Revis can’t do everything because Newton could pass it to Greg Olsen or Brandon Lafell. Even with Buccs rushing defense being good and only allowing one rushing touchdown, Williams will break out and will run for one touchdown, his first of the season. Back up Mike Tolbert has three touchdowns being a monster in the red zone.
